LITERARY CULTURE STUDIES: THEORY AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS FROM SPANISH AMERICA
The “Literary Culture Studies: Theory and Critical Analysis from Hispanic America (CULTAH)” research group carries out studies on various Hispanic American literary texts and the production of Hispanic American from critical approaches, such as cultural studies, gender studies, space and literature relationship, post-Structuralism, etc. Likewise, it produces monographic works on specific writers with the aim of contributing to a profound crucial discussion on the status of Hispanic American literature.
TRANSVERSAL PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACHES GROUP
The Transversal Philosophical Approaches research group is made up of professors of the Postgraduate program in Philosophy of the School of Philosophy of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and has as its main purpose that of reflecting on the most relevant ethical, social and political problems around nowadays, from a phenomenological-hermeneutic and practical philosophy perspective. Generating publication in the form of articles and books and disseminating the research of this highly-committed group is the objective of the Transversal Philosophical Approaches group.
IMAGE, MEMORY AND SOCIAL RESEARCH
We are a transdisciplinary research group of specialized academia in social phenomena related to image and memory. We generate research from photography, audiovisual media and orality as main sources and objects of study to contribute to the scientific knowledge on the cultural heritage and memory of the sociocultural groups in Latin America.
WORLD SOCIOECONOMIC PROCESSES
In the presence of the different epistemological approaches that encourage dialogue and enrich research activity in such complex and dynamic subjects as the study of development, this work group aims to promote research and teaching that integrates and strengthens the dynamic, social, economic and political initiatives that are woven at a global level, through a historical and critical perspective.
POLYMER RESEARCH GROUP
The research developed by the Polymers Group addresses fundamental problems in the physical chemistry of materials, such as the structure-property relationship, as well as in the generation of objective knowledge. From the experience of each of the group’s researchers, different strategies carried out to ensure the group’s high-quality research are presented. Among the properties studied are those such as photochromism, fluorescence effect polyelectrolyte, conductivity, initiator effect, monomer reactivity relationships, among others current topics related to the changes in the molecular structure of materials are addressed. These are the key to answering questions about everyday phenomena that are not entirely understood.
ECOLOGY AND SURVIVAL OF MICROORGANISMS
The Ecology and Survival of Microorganisms group is part of the Microbial Molecular Ecology Laboratory of the Research Centre in Microbiological Sciences, Institute of Sciences, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). This group conducts frontier research related to the study of beneficial bacteria for the environment and agriculture. Bacterial ability to promote the growth of plants, and studies of antagonism and bioremediation of toxic compounds are some of the scopes explored in our group. We are pioneers in the design of new inoculants called «second generation of inoculants», which are composed of bacterial multispecies that improve agricultural production better than mono-inoculants. Multi-species inoculants work under limited conditions, and we are especially interested in formulas operating under extreme environments.
TEAM OF ASYMMETRIC SYNTHESIS OF NITROGEN COMPOUNDS
The main axis of this research team is the development of new asymmetric synthesis strategies directed toward obtaining nitrogenous chiral intermediaries useful in the synthesis of compounds with various applications. The use of chiral auxiliaries allows greater control in the generation of one or more stereogenic centers in just one stage and continues being one of the most important challenges for synthetic chemists. We focus our efforts on obtaining chiral intermediaries that incorporate a chiral auxiliary capable of directing synthesis toward the compound of interest with the desired stereochemistry. These methods are applicable to the synthesis of complex molecules of synthetic and/or biological interest.
LANGUAGE & KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING LAB
The Language & Knowledge Engineering Lab is a group of members selected with the aim of exchanging scientific results and experiences, as well as sharing new knowledge, and increasing the co-operation between research groups in language processing and related areas. As a research group, we actively participate in several activities associated with the generation of new knowledge. Dissertations: We supervise dissertations at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels year round. Research Projects: We create and carry out research projects, mainly funded by the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACyT), but also funded by enterprises.
HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS
The High Energy Physics group of BUAP has reached a solid degree of maturity in its theoretical and its experimental area, as well as in the use of high-performance computing tools.
It maintains collaboration and presence at international level and its contributions have outstanding indices of readership. Its development is the product of work carried out for over twenty years on issues from Higgs boson physics and the Quark Top to Standard Model extensions that include candidates for dark matter. In the experimental area, the participation in the Large Hadron Collider and in High Energy Astrophysics, such as the Pierre Auger Observatory and the High Altitude Water Cerenkov Observatory is outstanding.
We are a consolidated research group in exact sciences applied to the development of technology. Our knowledge includes research, design, and instrumentation of electronic systems and the automation of processes for their application in several fields, both scientific and technological. Incorporating the theoretical-practical modeling of systems electronics applied to robotics, high energy particle physics, quantum optics, health, and other technological-science areas, in addition to the development and instrumentation of control, electronic and mechanical elements for process automation.
